  What is the principle of ice making in flake ice machines?

  A flake ice machine is a type of ice maker, which can be divided into fresh water flake ice machines and seawater flake ice machines based on the water source. Generally speaking, it is an industrial ice maker. Flake ice is thin, dry, loose white ice, with a thickness between 1.0 mm and 2.5 mm, irregular in shape, and with a diameter of about 12 to 45 mm. The ice blocks do not have sharp edges and will not injure frozen objects. It can enter the gaps between cooling objects, reduce heat exchange, maintain the temperature of the ice, and has good moisture retention effects. This flake ice has a good cooling effect and is characterized by a large and rapid cooling capacity. Therefore, it is mainly used in various large refrigeration facilities, food quick freezing, concrete cooling, etc. Due to its flat shape, flake ice has a larger surface area compared to other types of ice of the same weight. The larger the contact surface area, the better the cooling effect. For comparison, a small surface area of one ton of flake ice is 1579 square meters, while other types of ice such as tube ice and granular ice can only provide 395 to 1294 square meters, making the cooling efficiency of flake ice 2 to 5 times higher than that of tube ice and granular ice.

Water enters the water distributor from the water inlet of the flake ice machine evaporator, and is evenly sprayed onto the inner wall of the evaporator through the spray pipe, forming a water film; the water film exchanges heat with the refrigerant in the evaporator channel, causing the temperature to drop rapidly and forming thin ice on the inner wall of the evaporator. Under the pressure of the ice knife, it breaks into ice blocks and falls into the ice storage through the ice drop opening. Some water that does not form ice flows back to the cold water tank through the water receiving tray from the return port, and is circulated by the cold water circulation pump.

  When the ice reaches the required thickness (normally, the thickness of the ice is 1.5-2.2MM), the hot air discharged by the compressor is guided back to the ice-making compartment to replace the low-temperature liquid refrigerant. This creates a layer of water film between the ice and the evaporator tube wall. When the ice freely falls into the lower trough by gravity, it will act as a lubricant. The water generated during the ice harvesting cycle will return to the storage tank through the perforated tank to prevent the machine from discharging wet ice.

  Installation instructions for the flake ice machine:

  (1) The power supply requirement is 380V, four-wire open phase, 50HZ. Please refer to Table 1 and Table 2. The 0.5T-3T machines provide a 4-meter long power cable, so customers need to provide a power interface within 3 meters after determining the installation location.

  (2) The installation location should be well planned, and the installation unit should be well-ventilated to avoid humidity. Keep away from heat dissipation equipment and avoid direct sunlight. The ambient temperature should be between 5℃-35℃, suitable for the unit's operating range. Please refer to the technical parameters and requirements in Table 3 to select the installation location.

  (3) Users are required to provide the necessary water source for the flake ice machine (to ensure the reliable and safe operation of the unit, it is recommended that the water pressure be 0.1Mpa to 0.6Mpa). The water supply inlet should be a 4-point external tooth interface (it is recommended to use a 4-point PVC pipe), and the water supply interface should be less than two meters from the machine. In addition, to facilitate maintenance, the valve should be installed not far from the water supply interface (it is recommended to use a ball valve).
